Review of the digital edition landscape

Through this blog I hope to spread the word of digital editions to as many people as I can. I think that they are a great alternative to print publication. Ok, I know that I'm not the first person to have this idea and I'm just joining the movement, I really think that the medium offers so much more to publishers than they realize.

The biggest obstacle that I see is getting the ad sales teams on board. Traditional ad sales relies on an "eyes on page" cost basis, but online ads are measured differently. With a wide variety of web analytics products (both free and on a monthly pageview basis), there's more information that marketers can use to reach their ROI goals.

So, while I will be keeping an eye on the industry and commenting when I think it's neccessary I encourage everyone to join in the discussions I create. I look forward to reading and writing!
